I started learning Blender 3D for fun in my personal time but quickly recognized its potential to enhance my step & repeat design presentations. The ability to more accurately illustrate the depth and detail of my design concepts from various viewpoints provided a clearer perspective on how they would appear in reality. Transitioning from traditional 2D mockups to detailed, at-scale 3D visualizations significantly streamlined the process of obtaining fabrication quotes and approvals from senior leadership.

Kicking off the 95th Oscars season with the Governors Awards set the stage for my design narrative. This event introduced my modular build approach — a system designed to be both adaptable and sustainable by allowing structural elements to be reconfigured and reused across multiple events.

Inspired by modern architecture, the initial step & repeat setup at the Governors Awards featured a 60-foot structure consisting of 3 inset wall sections, each showcasing framed logos and wood grain panel accents, and flanked by black marble columns illuminated by gold sconces.

Adaptation for Seasonal Events

After the Governors Awards, for the Nominees Luncheon, we maintained the core aesthetics but made a few adjustments to suit the daytime setting. We swapped the black carpet for dove gray, reused the gold sconces from the 94th season, and reconfigured the modular wall sections to fit the smaller venue dimensions.

Continuity & Evolution for the 95th Oscars Press Rooms

This adaptation retained the modular design's core elements, integrating neutral-toned Venetian plaster and ivory framed logo tiles to complement the 95th anniversary’s 'Champagne Carpet'.
These strategic adaptations ensured each event remained on brand and visually cohesive yet distinct.
