The Academy decided to open a temporary retail presence to sell Oscars and Academy-branded merchandise to create event awareness and provide a revenue stream. Due to my background in fashion, retail and e-commerce, I was tasked with developing the merchandising plan, retail brand identity and store design.
The Oscar Retail store was opened prior to the 91st Oscar event in the Hollywood and Highland mall adjacent to the Dolby Theater where the Oscars event is held. I developed the store branding and designed and oversaw the renovations of the retail space in time to open in the weeks prior to the Oscars.

Store Renovation: Before & After

Under construction
The store location previously had been a L'Occitane en Provence, commonly known as L'Occitane, thus the entire retail floor was either tile or Venetian plaster.
We had to do extensive renovations to create a retail space that was functional, fit the brand's elevated aesthetic, all while staying within budget.
To make use of the space while the renovations were underway, I designed a window wrap for the entire store front to market the show and drive tune-in.
